About your Therapist
I began studying massage in 2002, before leaving my original career of 8 years in banking and financial services, to pursue my interest in physical & emotional health. Some of my initial interest was from wanting to better understand long-standing pain and tension in my upper back, as well as to benefit from massage therapy.
I am particularly interested in the interaction between mind, body & spirit, and eastern philosophies & practices. I went on to explore this further on the Oriental Aromatherapy course with the Institute of Traditional Herbal Medicine and Aromatherapy (ITHMA). I also worked in Clapham Physiotherapy for 3 years, benefiting greatly from working with, and taking advice from, the clinical team, as well as taking further studies in advanced massage techniques and pre/post natal massage and aromatherapy. In 2008 I completed a Diploma in Reflexology, and advanced studies in Spinal Reflexology and Pregnancy/Fertility Reflexology, and am pleased to be able use these skills as an adjunct to my treatments.
I believe that through treating holistically the whole person's well-being is acknowledged emotional (the mind), spiritual (the soul), physical (the body) along with environmental and social factors. Our daily lives are full of activities and events that affect our bodies. Many events that we experience in life can become very significant, especially for the person involved. These are far-ranging from physical injuries, posture related problems, poor nutrition, chronic aches and pains, emotional distresses, anxieties and depression. My aim through treating holistically is to help people in a relaxing, caring and enjoyable way to help comfort and ease pain and/or stress from such experiences and encourage positive changes in their lives, physically, mentally or emotionally.
With ever increasing levels of stress, it is important for people take more responsibility for their own health care needs. Complementary Therapies help us to cope on a physical mental and emotional level thereby encouraging us to heal and maintain equilibrium in all area of our lives.
